What does a voice changer do?
A voice changer alters how a recording of your voice sounds, making it higher, deeper, robotic, echoey or tinny like an old radio. This online voice changer works on a clip you record with your microphone or upload, applies the effect inside your browser, and gives you a new WAV file to play or download.
It is worth being clear about what kind of tool this is. Many sites call themselves an AI voice changer, but the effects here are classic audio processing: changing playback speed, multiplying the signal by a tone, filtering frequencies and adding delays. They do not use AI voice cloning and cannot make you sound like a specific real person. The upside is that the processing is fast, predictable and private.

Because the pitch effects change the playback rate, speed and pitch move together: a higher voice is also faster, and a deeper voice is also slower. That is the classic tape-speed sound rather than a pitch shift that keeps the original timing.
Example: turning a 10-second clip into a robot message
- Record a short line such as “Mission control, systems are online” in a quiet room, holding the phone or microphone about a hand’s width from your mouth.
- Play the original to check it is clear and not clipped.
- Choose Robot and press Apply effect. The result is the same length, about 10 seconds, with a buzzing metallic tone.
- Download the WAV. Uncompressed audio is larger than an MP3: 10 seconds is roughly 0.9 MB for a mono 44.1 kHz recording and about 1.9 MB for stereo at 48 kHz.
Tips for the best recordings
- Record in a quiet, soft-furnished room. Curtains and cushions reduce the room echo that makes effects sound muddy.
- Speak slightly slower and more clearly than usual, especially for Chipmunk and Alien, which speed your voice up.
- Keep a steady distance from the microphone and avoid breathing directly into it.
- If the result distorts, record a little quieter. Radio adds distortion on purpose, so start with a clean take.
- Trim long silences before uploading so the processed file stays small.
Use it responsibly
Voice effects are great for videos, games, podcasts, pranks with friends and school projects. Do not use a voice changer to impersonate a real person, mislead someone about who is speaking, or hide your identity to harass, threaten or scam anyone. Only record and upload other people’s voices with their permission.

Is this an AI voice changer?
Not in the voice-cloning sense. It uses standard audio effects from the Web Audio API built into your browser. That keeps it free and private, but it cannot convert your voice into another specific person’s voice.
Why is the downloaded file bigger than my original?
The result is saved as uncompressed 16-bit WAV so it plays everywhere without quality loss. If you uploaded an MP3 or M4A, the WAV will usually be several times larger. You can convert it to MP3 with any audio editor if size matters.
Can I change the pitch without changing the speed?
Not with these presets. The Chipmunk, Deep, Giant and Alien effects change pitch by changing playback speed, so both change together.
Which effect is best for YouTube or Instagram videos?
Deep voice and Robot are popular for narration and characters, Radio suits phone-call or walkie-talkie scenes, and Echo or Cave add atmosphere. Try several on the same recording and compare, since the tool lets you reapply effects as many times as you like.
