Most AI directories sell the top spots. We do not, and the whole design of this site depends on that being true — a ranking you can buy is not a ranking, it is an advert with a number on it.
How we test
Every quarter we take the top of a category and give each tool an identical brief, scored blind by an editor who does not know which tool produced which output. The scoring sheet is published with every comparison, so you can disagree with our conclusion and still use our data.
How we make money
Affiliate links on some tools, marked wherever they appear, and never a factor in ranking or scoring. The newsletter carries one sponsor slot a month, labelled as such. That is the entire list.
Roughly one in six tools in the directory carries an affiliate link. The other five in six earn us nothing, and they are ranked by the same method.
How we keep it current
Pricing is re-checked continuously and every tool page shows its own check date. When a check fails, the page says so rather than showing a stale figure as if it were fresh.
