Rotate PDF pages

Is the rotation permanent?
Yes. The rotation is saved into the page itself, so the file opens the right way up in every viewer — unlike the temporary “rotate view” button in PDF readers.
What does a rotate PDF tool do?
A rotate PDF tool turns pages by 90, 180 or 270 degrees and saves the change into a new copy of the file. It fixes scans that came out sideways, landscape tables that open on their side, and pages fed into the scanner upside down.
Every PDF page carries a rotation setting that tells viewers which way up to show it. This tool changes that setting rather than redrawing the page, so text, images and print quality are untouched and the file size stays about the same. The new rotation is added to whatever rotation the page already had.
Worked examples
Fixing two sideways pages in a 10-page scan
In a 10-page scan, pages 4 and 7 lie on their side with the text reading from bottom to top, meaning the top of the page is on the left. Choose 90° clockwise, type 4, 7 in the Pages box and click Rotate PDF. The result says 2 of 10 pages were rotated, and the file downloads with “-rotated” added to its name. The other eight pages are left exactly as they were.
How rotations add up
Rotations stack. Rotate a page 90° clockwise twice and it ends up at 180°. Four 90° turns bring it back to where it started, because the angle wraps around at 360°. If you overshoot, load the rotated file and apply 90° anticlockwise to undo one step.
Which rotation should I choose?

Tips for rotating PDF pages
- Different directions on different pages: run the tool once for the pages that need clockwise, download, then load that new file and run it again for the pages that need anticlockwise or 180°.
- Page numbers mean position in the file (1 is the first page), not the numbers printed on the pages.
- Rotate before converting or merging so images and combined documents come out upright.
- Slightly tilted scans can’t be straightened here. Page rotation works in 90° steps only; a scan that is a few degrees off needs re-scanning or an editor with deskew.
- Mixed layouts are normal. A report can keep portrait text pages alongside landscape chart pages; rotate only the ones that display wrongly.
More questions
How do I rotate just one page in a PDF?
Type that page’s number in the Pages box, for example 3, choose the direction and click Rotate PDF. Every other page stays as it is. Once the file loads, the label next to the box shows how many pages it has.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Only the page’s rotation setting changes; the text, images and fonts are not re-rendered or re-compressed. Text that was selectable stays selectable.
Can I rotate a PDF on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your mobile browser, select the PDF from your Files app or downloads, pick the rotation and download the corrected copy. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I rotate a PDF page by 45 degrees?
No. The PDF format only allows page rotation in multiples of 90 degrees, so every PDF tool is limited to 90°, 180° and 270° turns for whole pages.
