Does merging reduce quality? No. Pages are copied as-is, so text, images and vector graphics are untouched.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs? Encrypted files need to be unlocked first. Open the PDF, remove the password and save it, then merge.
What does a merge PDF tool do?
A merge PDF tool takes two or more separate PDF files and joins them into a single document, one after another, in the order you set. The pages are not redrawn or re-compressed. They are copied from each source file into a new PDF, so what you see in the originals is what you get in the combined file.
People usually combine PDFs when a form, portal or person wants “one file only”: a job application that asks for a CV plus certificates, a visa or loan application with ID proofs and bank statements, or a monthly bundle of invoices for an accountant. On this page the whole job runs in your browser with JavaScript, so the files stay on your device.
Worked example: combining three scanned invoices
Say you scanned three invoices from the same supplier as separate files:
- invoice-july.pdf — 2 pages, 1.4 MB
- invoice-august.pdf — 1 page, 0.8 MB
- invoice-september.pdf — 3 pages, 2.1 MB
Select all three at once. They appear in the order your device hands them over, which is not always the order you want, so check the list. Use the up and down arrows to put July first, and the × button to drop anything you added by mistake. Click Merge PDFs and the result panel shows the page count and size of the new file: here 6 pages (2 + 1 + 3). Because merging copies pages without compressing them, the merged file will be roughly the total of the three inputs, about 4.3 MB in this case, give or take a little.
Forgot one? Click Add more files. New files join the end of the list and you can move them up before merging. If the final file is too big for an email or upload limit, run it through the compressor afterwards.

Tips for a clean merged PDF
- Name files with a number first (01-cv.pdf, 02-degree.pdf, 03-experience.pdf) so they are easier to put in order.
- Fix orientation before or after merging: a sideways scan stays sideways in the merged file. The rotate tool accepts page ranges, so you can fix just those pages later.
- Need only part of a long document? Extract those pages with the split tool first, then merge the extract.
- Bookmarks (the outline panel) from the original files are generally not carried over, so check the result if you rely on them.
- Each page keeps its own size. Mixing A4, US Letter and landscape slides gives a document with mixed page sizes, which is normal and prints fine.
- For very large bundles, use a laptop or desktop. Phones give a browser tab less memory to work with.

How do I merge PDF files on my phone?
Open this page in Chrome or Safari on Android or iPhone, tap Select PDF files and pick the files from your Files app or Downloads. The merge runs in the mobile browser exactly as it does on a computer, and the finished file is saved to your usual downloads location.
Is it safe to combine PDFs online?
It depends on the site. Many online mergers upload your files to their servers to process them. This one reads the files inside your browser tab and builds the new PDF there, so your documents are not sent anywhere. Closing the tab clears them.
Can I join PDFs without Adobe Acrobat?
Yes. You don’t need Acrobat or any installed software: a browser-based merger works on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Android and iPhone. On a Mac, the built-in Preview app can also combine PDFs by dragging page thumbnails into the sidebar.
Can I merge a PDF with a JPG or Word file?
This tool accepts PDFs only. Turn photos into a PDF first with the JPG to PDF tool, and save Word documents as PDF (File, then Save As or Export, then PDF). Then merge all the PDFs together.
